WHAT: Mamma Chia‘s Chia Squeeze is a “vitality snack” made from an organic chia seed base that comes in flavors: Blackberry Bliss, Apple Cinnamon, Strawberry Banana, Green Magic, Mango Coconut, and Wild Raspberry.
WHY: With all organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, AND vegan ingredients this PROTEIN and FIBER -packed chia drink is a great snack for ALL AGES whether on-the-go or to put in lunchboxes. Each squeeze is only 70 calories and filled with antioxidants and omega 3’s (which support heart health, and beautiful hair, skin, and nails). The hydrated chia seeds (if you’re new to chia, sip slowly, they’re a little slimy but after you’ve experienced chia seeds once you will probably never be bothered by that again… or keep reading how good they are for you and you will get over the sliminess, haha) are known for their ability to increase energy and stamina over long periods of time (they were a staple in ancient Aztecs and Mayan diets). I also love that Mamma Chia sneaks in some unexpected (and undetectable) healthy veggie purees in each drink (think butternut squash and kale). Another powerful ingredient used is cinnamon, which helps to control blood sugar level (so you/your kid don’t get that sugar “high” and then crash).
WHERE: Available in health food stores such as Whole Foods Market $3.69/each, Erewhon, or online ; $27.99/pack of 16 squeeze bottles or the cheapest I found was on Amazon $12/8 squeeze bottles.
(AMAZING animated Chia Squeeze photos are from Facebook – too good not to share!)
THE VERDICT: I loved the Chia Squeeze Apple Cinnamon flavor! It tasted like fresh apple sauce but in a convenient Capri Sun-like squeeze bottle (who didn’t used to love those squeeze drinks in your lunchbox growing up!) Great taste + nutrient-filled ingredients = just what we’re looking for!
