WHAT: Taste Nirvana is a hydrating coconut water beverage, naturally filled with five essential electrolytes—potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, and phosphorous.

WHY: Gluten-free, non-GMO, and NO preservatives… Taste Nirvana coconut water is one of the best ways to rehydrate yourself by replacing lost electrolytes* (they keep your body, muscles, and nerves functioning properly). Coconut water is an all natural isotonic beverage (meaning it replenishes fluids and electrolytes – and MUCH better alternative to Gatorade). It’s important to replace electrolytes after exercise (you lose electrolytes in your sweat)/illness/hangover (yep hangover – it’s true!).

Coconut water has recently gotten a lot of press and it makes sense why:

  • Carries nutrients and oxygen to cells
  • Cleanses digestive tract
  • Boosts immune system
  • Balances pH
  • Raises your metabolism
  • Boosts circulation
  • Promotes weight loss
  • High in potassium, fat free, cholesterol free
  • Promotes smoother, more hydrated skin – Brazilian women are said to use coconut water as a facial toner and wash their hair with coconut water

taste-nirvanaTaste Nirvana also makes Coco Aloe, and Coconut Water with Pulp for those daring enough to try.

What to look for when purchasing:

* 100% Natural/Not from concentrate

* Zero added sugar

* NO preservatives, caffeine, fat, cholesterol

WHERE: Available online at most health food stores such as Whole Foods Market, and Erewhon Natural Foods Market and Sprouts.

THE VERDICT: My personal favorite, Taste Nirvana coconut water comes from Thai coconuts known for their sweetness. With a nutty, and light but creamy coconut flavor, this is a great option for those with a sweet tooth. I thought this was the freshest tasting. It’s packaged in a resealable glass bottle (also available in cans).

 Fun Fact: Fresh coconut water (when taken straight from the coconut it is considered sterile) is so close in composition to human blood plasma that during World War II doctors used it for emergency intravenous (IV) blood transfusions. While we don’t suggest going this at home, we take this as further evidence of coconut’s powerful elixir of health.
